Who doesn’t love a good IKEA hack? They’re all over the internet these days, and this is another one to add to that list! This hack is for the HAVSTA cabinet – both the solid and glass front/glass shelf version.
IKEA Hack Breakdown
To elevate this look and give it that custom look, we started with a base. We used a birch plywood and cut it up to create bases for the 5 HAVSTA bottom cabinets. Each end were reinforced to add extra support. Cut outs were included to allow for a forced air vent and electrical outlets.
Next, the HAVSTA cabinets (with the solid doors) were placed on the newly built elevated bases.
Next, the top level of the HAVSTA cabinets (with the glass doors & glass shelves) were installed and secured to the lower level. A piece of white trim was added to the top level. A decorative trim piece will be added as well to finalize the look as fully custom.
Finally, it’s time to install the dimmable LED under the cabinet lights and start filling the shelves!
A few customizable steps left in the form of knobs and trim pieces as well as finalizing some shelf styling, but this is where the new IKEA hack built-ins are at! We’ll be sure to show you the final look when it’s all complete!
